FACULTY ADVISOR REPORT

Dr. Tim Jenkins, our faculty advisor, reported that the undergraduate chapter was generally performing well.  He had some recommendations for the undergraduates on areas that need continued attention, including a reminder on the importance of academic focus.

FUNDRAISING REPORT

Brother Tom “Oddball” Alspaugh provided a little more current and detailed report on the “Burn the Mortgage” fundraising effort to raise sufficient funds to retire the mortgage when it comes due in February of next year, 2026. Brother Oddball reported that as of 4 October, 2025, that we needed to raise an additional $116,000 in order to meet the goal of retiring the mortgage.  When this program started late last fall of last year, the required amount that needed to be raised was about $225,000, so the program is a little over halfway to the goal.  He also noted that the mortgage note calls for a shift to annual (as opposed to five-year intervals up until now) reviews and adjustments to the rate.  During the discussion, Brother Brian Tippman volunteered to join the Fundraising Committee and assist Brother Oddball in completing the campaign.

UNDERGRADUATE REPORT

Last school year, the chapter added twelve new brothers and there are two pledges this fall semester.  This brings the fraternity to twenty-six undergraduate brothers and the two pledges.  The Old Gal has fourteen brothers living in, one below capacity.

The undergraduate chapter reported that they expect 8-10 new pledges in the spring which will be important to replace several seniors who graduate in May.  They have been very active on campus holding down the positions of President of the Student Senate and Interfraternity Council.  In addition, they will hold their annual haunted house fundraiser and community relations event.  Although academics have been good, the undergraduates feel that a renewed emphasis is needed as they are capable of doing better.  Most of the brothers participate in one of the scholarship sports and Brother Dane Chapman completed several interior painting projects over the summer.

GOOD OF THE FRATERNITY

  • Brother Froggy Stone went into a lengthy diatribe about Homecoming 2026.  He is going to make a concerted effort to get as many brothers from the 1970s back for a fifty-year visit next year when the chapter hopes to literally “burn the Mortgage”.  He encouraged others from various efforts to get as many alumni back as possible.
  • It was noted that the web site being restored to a functional state was for the Good of the Fraternity.
  • Brother Jon Matthew Spaw taking the helm of the Alumni Association Homecoming Committee was for the Good of the Fraternity.
  • Commodore Budreau’s boat cruises during Homecoming are clearly for the Good for the Fraternity.

With no further business before the fraternity, Brother Duff adjourned the meeting at 9:55 AM EDT.

Respectfully Submitted

M. E. “Froggy” Stone

Alumni Association Secretary
